John was born in Sarnia, Ontario and raised in both Sarnia and Waterloo, Ontario. John was called to the Bar of Ontario in February 2002 and has successfully completed the Michigan State Bar Exam.
John is a member of the Ontario Bar Association, the Waterloo Law Association, the Ontario Federation of Angler and Hunters and the Kitchener Grand River Rotary Club (past director and Paul Harris Fellow). John has been involved with Skate 48 a local hockey fundraiser for Rotary for over 16 years (co-chair for 14 years) and the event has raised over 2.5 million for local kids’ charities.
Areas of practice include commercial and residential real estate law (including mortgage transactions, financings, powers of sale, severances and land planning issues); corporate law (including share and asset purchases and sales, incorporations- in particular for all types of professional health practices, health law, corporate reorganizations and financings and assisting in and facilitating international corporate work throughout North America, Europe and China); labour and employment law; and estate planning (including Wills, Powers of Attorney, creation of trusts and estate and trust administration matters.
John enjoys sports of all kinds but particularly hockey which he has played for over 40 years and at all levels. John loves the outdoors, being on the water and is an avid angler, fishing throughout North America. John and his family have lived in Waterloo for over 30 years.
